Kari Whisner is our Director and has served Chapel Hill Christian Academy for the past 5 years. Kari has a heart to serve the surrounding communities by helping to provide a God-centered school experience for local families and their children. Her husband Jon is the Senior Pastor of Church at Chapel Hill where they have served in this capacity for the past 7 years. Jon and Kari are the proud parents of three children who attend CHCA.
Kristin Hankins is our 7-12th grade Supervisor. She has been working with children for 25 years. She spent many of those years as Children’s Ministry Director at Church at Chapel Hill. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication at Berea College, in Berea, Kentucky, and has worked with Chapel Hill Christian Academy for 5 years. She loves teaching children new concepts and bringing Bible stories to life! She’s been married to Gary, Associate Pastor at CACH, for 22 blessed years and is honored to be the mother of Brock and London.
Krista Bankes is our 7th-8th grade Supervisor. She is excited for her first year on staff at CHCA! She holds a master’s degree in Mental Health Clinical Counseling from Colorado Christian University, with extensive training in working with children and adolescents. She is passionate about helping students succeed academically while also supporting their emotional well-being. Most importantly, she desires to point them to Christ as the ultimate source of truth, hope, and identity. Above all, her most important role is being a wife and mother to three wonderful children, which shapes her heart for guiding and caring for young people.
Kelly Hawkins is our 5th-6th grade Supervisor. Her passion is working with students and helping to guide them during their formative years. Her experience is in public schools and homeschooling. Kelly has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and a Masters Degree in School Counseling from The University of Dayton. She is a licensed school counselor and has a Career and Technical Teacher Education from The Ohio State University. She has been married her husband, Todd, for 20 years and has two children.
Christina Shupp is our 2nd-4th grade Supervisor at CHCA. She was born and raised in Brazil and moved to the United States in her late teens to pursue her education in business. She is a certified fitness instructor with a passion for faith, health, and helping others. She lives in Mount Vernon, Ohio, with her husband, Dave. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being in nature, volunteering with children and the elderly, and sharing God’s love wherever she goes. She is honored to be a part of Chapel Hill Christian Academy and hopes to be a positive addition to the school.
Trisha Wilt is our 1st grade Supervisor. She is honored to be teaching our first graders at CHCA! She has a deep love for working with young children and helping them grow not only academically but also in their walk with Christ. She believes in creating a nurturing, faith-filled classroom where students feel safe, loved, and excited to learn. With a heart for service and a passion for Christian education, her goal is to guide each child in discovering their God-given gifts and to support families in raising children who love the Lord with all their hearts.
Shelley Amstutz is our PreK 4-Kindergarten Supervisor and was excited to join CHCA in 2022. Shelley creates a playful, enthusiastic, and lively environment in which her students learn. Shelley teaches Science at a local homeschooling co-op, is a group leader for American Heritage Girl, and enjoys her role as an Awana Cubbie Leader. Shelley has been married to her Paul for 29 years and they have 4 beautiful daughters.
Amanda Ruckman is our part-time aide. She graduated from Cedarville University with a degree in Social Work. She has been married for 16 years to her husband, Michael, and is mom to 4 beautiful girls. Her oldest daughter has been attending CHCA since 2021. Amanda is excited to help your little ones grow both academically and in their relationship with God.
Pastor Jon Whisner and Assistant Pastor Gary Hankins are the pastors at Church at Chapel Hill. They oversee the administrative decisions and duties of the staff at Chapel Hill Christian Academy. They have been involved at CHCA since 2020. They have a desire to help provide a Christian education for the children in our community and to help disciple them to be more like Christ.
